A father is regarded as a figure worthy of admiration and imitation. For PCdt Emerson Liwag Mallorca, his father is a figure of leadership, a living example of honor, service, and camaraderie. Growing up, PCDT Mallorca witnessed firsthand the essence of what it meant to be a true leader through his father’s unwavering commitment to duty and his ability to foster strong bonds among his peers.

Captivated by his father’s example, young Emerson embarked on a journey in search of the true essence of leadership and what makes a leader a true leader. During his search, he tread the halls of San Beda University, pursuing a degree in Political Science, yet the answer continued to elude him. Relentless and uncertain, he continued his search for the answer to his question, which led him to the Philippine National Police Academy, where many are called but only a few are chosen.

The road to the Academy was loaded with trials, hardships, and challenges, which will test not only his courage and determination but also his faith. Despite failing on his first try, PCDT Mallorca refused to yield to defeat. For the second time, he stood up again, armed with bravery, resilience, and newfound experience and knowledge. This time, he claimed victory and earned his place among the chosen few who dared to tread the path less traveled.

Within the academy’s walls, PCDT Mallorca faced challenges unlike any he had encountered before. Yet, amidst these challenges and adversities, he remained steadfast to his purpose, his resolve remained unshaken. He embraced the mantra of “𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒃𝒐𝒅𝒚,” understanding that true strength lay not in physical prowess alone, but in the fortitude of one’s spirit. It’s only a matter of the mind. The body can cope as long as the mind does not break first.

As the days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and months into years, PCDT Mallorca blossomed into a refined individual. Through discipline and perseverance, he was able to surpass the rigors of cadetship, emerging as a symbol of inspiration for his peers.

With the end of his journey inside the Academy drawing near, PCdt Mallorca found himself pondering the true essence of leadership once more. And in the quiet moments of reflection, he found his answer – in order to become a true leader, one needs to be 𝑫𝑰𝑺𝑪𝑰𝑷𝑳𝑰𝑵𝑬𝑫. Looking back on his journey, PCdt Mallorca realized that it was self-discipline that had propelled him forward and guided him through the darkest of nights and the fiercest of storms. And now, as he stands on the height of success, he understands that his journey is far from over.

As he assumed the position of 𝑹𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝑬𝒙𝒆𝒄𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑶𝒇𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒓 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑶𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 and earned the title of being in the 𝑻𝑶𝑷 10 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝑨𝒀𝑨𝑮-𝑫𝑰𝑾𝑨 𝑪𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒔 𝒐𝒇 2024, PCDT Mallorca knew that his achievements were nothing but a product of the power of Discipline. And if there is one lesson he wishes to impart to his fellow cadets and aspiring leaders, it is this – that greatness is not bestowed upon the chosen few but earned through tireless effort and unwavering discipline.

In the eyes of his family – his mother, Emalyn; his father, Marlon; his sisters, Mariel and Princess – PCDT Mallorca is not just a son, but a symbol of hope and inspiration. And as he looks to the future, he knows that he carries with him the legacy of his father, a legacy of honor, service, and leadership. In the end, he has not only followed in his father’s footsteps but surpassed them, becoming a true leader worthy of imitation.
