A child of the Queen Province of the North endowed with rich to becoming an officer and a refined individual for the Pearl of the Orient Seas.

He is a man full of expectations in an unpredicted world of frustrations. He once failed but never quit. Instead, he persisted until he reached the peak he always wanted. Police Cadet Jefferson Santos Mamauag knew that life would not become as easy as he thinks.

Growing up, he witnessed the hardships of his parents to provide the needs of his family. “Mula noong matutunan kong pumunta ng bukid hanggang sa tumulong magbilad ng palay para lang magkapera,” he said. He promised himself that he will strive to always do what is best to improve his family’s way of living.

“Despite the financial struggles, my parents instilled to me the importance of education and hard work.”

Prior to his entry into the portals of the academy, P/CDT Mamauag took his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology at Isabela State University (ISU) – Cauayan Campus. He applied for various supports from the university level to municipal and provincial scholarships. While displaying his swift moves in playing badminton, he also managed to sustain his needs in his studies.

In 2015, after his graduation, he decided to take the Criminology Licensure Examination (CLE). However, there was a discrepancy on his surname at the Philippine Statistics Authority, making him lose his slot in the said examination. This led him to a bigger opportunity— he took the PNPA Cadet Admission Test in 2016 and became part of the PNPA BSPS Mandayug Class of 2020.

As he began his journey in road less travelled, he met a medical emergency that required him to undergo exploratory laparotomy– a major operation which left him 37 scars of stitches as symbol of his grim struggles in his cadetship. He has nothing left to do but to go out and face the real life challenges outside the academy.

After a year of recovery, he again tried his fortune. Nonetheless, the doctor said that his wounds are not yet totally healed. That was when he decided to take the CLE and placed 8th in the Regional Level – Cagayan Valley.

“I was very grateful for this achievement, and I promised to take my time and let God direct me to the right path.”

At that time, various opportunities are knocking to his doors. He chose to open again the door to fulfill his dream of becoming a police officer and joined the MASIDTALAK Class of 2023.

“I encountered even more obstacles and challenges at the Academy, but I emerged from these experiences stronger and more resilient.”

In his desire to become a highly capable public safety officer, P/CDT Mamauag became the Editor-in-Chief for Kalendaryo of the Corps Publications, Philippine National Police Academy.

“There are just moments when God tested our faith in Him. We should always remember that God is always there, watching and guiding us” – P/CDT Mamauag as a living testimony of the importance of having the intervention of the Almighty God in any aspect of his life.

“Whatever my achievements are, I will always dedicate them to my parents.” In his success, he never forgets to acknowledge his parents’ unending love and support.

Few days from now, he will graduate as Top 8 of their class. He will be one of the newly commissioned officers of the Philippine National Police as the new breed of heroes and leaders of our beloved country, the Philippines.

“For me, number 8 is my lucky number. It reminds me of my achievements and memories to be treasured for.”

He concedes that delays do not dictate what your tomorrow will be. It lays in your hands on how you turn your wheels upside down.

“Looking back on the past, I am fortunate that I made the right decision.”
