“Hard work beats talent when talent does not work hard” this has always been the motto of Jail Cadet Saleh Ismael Balmori Lingas, who hails from the busy district of Toril, Davao City. The son of Jeana Balmori Lingas, a public school teacher, and Zaldy Mellomida Lingas, a government employee.
Before entering PNPA, he has always proved himself to be an intellectual, as he was a consistent honor roll student during his elementary, junior and senior high school days. He was also a former 2-time National Campus Journalist in the category of News Writing and Sports Writing, and represented his alma mater, Davao Central College in Campus Journalist Competitions for six straight years, only halted when he entered the academy.
Jail Cadet Lingas was also a former CAT officer, which for him “became the foundation of my pursuit to enter this prestigious academy”, motivated also by his parents and relatives.
After graduating senior high school in 2019, he decided to enter the Philippine National Police Academy, and became a member of PNPA MASIDTALAK Class Of 2023, during his second year, he showcased his skills in journalism, allowing him to join the PNPA CORPS PUBLICATIONS.


Fast forward, he was named as the Cadet-In-Charge of the organization, and with this, has set the standards of excellence, as during his leadership, PNPA has earned not only one, but two prestigious awards during the 44th edition of the Catholic Mass Media Awards in the category of Best Student Organ and Best TV Production, making history in the field of journalism of the academy, a record unmatched by its peers.
At a young age, Jail Cadet Lingas has already realized the importance of education, saying that it is “the key to a better and brighter future”. He hopes to inspire his underclass, and the Filipino youth who wish to join the long maroon line, but also to give importance to their education, as it is one of the foundations of a person.
