“I was 16 when I had to stop from studying because my father was unexpectedly diagnosed with kidney problems, I was 1st year in college that time on a full scholarship but had to sacrifice for my family”

“Life was difficult because my father worked as a construction worker and my mother sold fruits and coconut to help my father in his income to send us all to school. Every day was a struggle but life was good because we were together”.

“For three years I worked as an employee in a private company. I took it upon myself to become the bread winner of the family because for me, success is meaningless if my family is not complete. I worked doubly hard and prayed harder with eagerness in my heart that soon I can continue my studies.

”A blessing came when God sent an instrument in the person of Mr. Aldei V. Acompańada, my cousin’s husband who encouraged me to take PNPA CAT, I passed the entrance examination, the rigorous training and the rest is history.”

POLICE MAJOR MARIEJIN B ENCIO is an example of a dutiful daughter with fierce love for family, willing to sacrifice for the love of her siblings. As the elder sister, she took it upon herself to send his brother to school until he became a Fire Officer 1, in BFP last year. A loving sister to her elder sibling because she lends a hand in raising her three kids. Most especially she is a dotting aunt to her nephews because she helped finance their education.

A proud member of PNPA Masaligan, Class of 2011, she surpassed all the difficulties that was thrown her way because she made her family and their struggles her inspiration.

According to the iron lady of Tourist Police Unit her leadership is anchored on 3M’s: Magminahalay, Magsinabtanay and Magtinabangay, with these three core values everything will follow. Likewise, if the men and women of TPU have happy minds and grateful hearts they will become highly capable, effective and credible public servants and live the name as true Tourist Oriented-Police for Community Order and Protection (TOPCOP) officers.

Her assumption as the Chief of Tourist Police Unit was timely when the restrictions of the pandemic was eased. The tourism industry of Cebu Province geared up for recovery, similarly TPU also stepped up to meet the demands for more TOPCOP trained personnel. The unit welcomed her as their new leader and together they pushed for the materialization of the Integrated Tourist-Oriented Police for Community Order and Protection (ITOPCOP) Training in coordination with DOT7 and Provincial Tourism- Cebu Province.

She can proudly say that, the TOPCOP officers can give the Filipino brand of service excellence in ensuring the safety and security for the local and foreign tourists.

PMAJOR ENCIO is guided by this principle in life that “God always has something for all of us; a key for every problem, a light for every sorrow and a plan for every tomorrow. In an organization with full of complexities, the road to success is never straight. I know there will be bumps, curves, twirls and loops along the way but I trust God and his love so I know I can make it.”

TPU has reached out to the community by connecting to the people and police through LOVE IN MOTION, this is part of the “KAPWA KO, SAGOT KO” program and the environmental advocacy GREEN POLICE a TPU best practice.

The living example that God listens and God answers if you work hard and pray harder, PMAJOR MARIEJIN B ENCIO! Mabuhi ka!
