(Bugle Call, 2009)

It was January of 1979 when the PNPA transferred to Camp Vicente Lim, Calamba, Laguna, the home of the Philippine National Police Academy. Purely in-service policemen, who took their oaths and decidedly submitted themselves to serve the country as cadets. They were the “chosen ones” to compose the Bachelor of Science in Public Safety. Like their Class name they were built through solidarity and firmness.

By enduring the adversities of training, they are concentrated on preparing themselves to face the demands of their job. Training at the Philippine National Police Academy turned them into men. It was a transformation fraught with courage. The hardships of training never discouraged them. Instead, it became their inspiration to pursue their ambition to become full-fledged Police Commissioned Officers.

Their graduation day was on March 30, 1981. Thirty-four of them proudly stood on stage and received their hard-earned diploma. Principled and idealistic, they were ready to face the challenges outside the portals of the Academy.

Today, of the 34 of them who graduated from the Academy. Six (6) sacrificed their lives in the line of duty to protect the lives of others. To complete the Class, 19 honorary members from all walks of life joined Matatag Class of 1981. The class produced three (3) star ranks from the tri-bureau, while 19 original members remain robust and are as passionate as ever in carrying out their mission.
