I am Cadet First Class Ivan Whitney B. Panaligan, from the town of Tuao in Cagayan, known as the “Land of the Free, Home of the Brave.” Ever since I was a child, I dreamed of becoming a police officer. As I grew older, I learned that the best path to becoming one is by joining the PNPA. So, I pursued the road “less traveled by.”
To become a cadet, I had to apply three times. I was fortunate enough to pass all the PNPACAT that I took, but I failed twice during the processing phase. During those times, I doubted myself and even thought, “Maybe this is not for me.” But I didn’t let those doubts and failures hold me back. I kept falling, but I kept rising, each time stronger than before.
For me, just being qualified to apply for the PNPA was already a great opportunity. I held on to that opportunity and never lost hope. I told myself, “As long as there is still a chance for me to apply, I will keep on applying.”
